This was just a quick costume I wanted to do for Afest 2011.
These characters are from the Dark Tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho.
The first attempt [for Akon] was... very much rushed and I wasn't happy with it at all. This time, I had more time to work out the kinks and actually make a hat. I totally forgot about my purple neck bow..tie..thingy- and I didn't get my purple contacts in time, so just bear with me :C! I am aware that it's not accurate, but to be honest- I am still happy with it.
In the end, I got a photoshoot in this costume with :icon10thmuse:. I didn't have time to do another photoshoot with :iconchibichise: who also made a Koto costume to go with my Juri- But, Maybe next time we'll squeeze in a photoshoot next year.

Okay, now for details~!
I bought the wig from Arda-wigs.com And ended up styling it [cutting the bangs and such]. they looked a lot better earlier, but they got messed up when I was forced to put the wig in my suitcase.
The black leotard was bought from a discount dance store, and just modified by me. I used pink fabric from Joann's Fabric store and layered it the way I wanted to- before sewing over it. That's all I did for the bra area, the part that lays over her shoulders, and the skirt wrap.
For the hat, I cut out a piece of cardboard, snipped slits into it, and pulled the slits closer together to give it a dome shape. I then taped that together, and cut out strips of pink fabric which I later layered over the dome [then hot glued them on]. I hot glued a few clips to the underside of the hat, and used those to attach to the back of the wig.
The loose socks and arm warmers were also made by me, along with the tail- which I just made a pattern for, stuffed, and sewed together.
The ears were made of Sintra. I drew up a pattern, traced it onto the Sintra, cut it out with 10-snips, used a heat gun to make it flexible enough so I could shape it slightly, then added bondo to the rim of the ear so it could have some definition. After it dried, I sanded the bondo, and :iconpockypants: panted it. [she's better at shading]. I later painted over it with a lighter blue- but the shading is still there, thanks to her C:

All in all, this costume, AGAIN, was just a quick costume so I could wear something different for a con. I didn't want to drag my Tron Bonne costume with me, and to be honest, Yu Yu Hakusho was a favorite anime of mine, back in Junior High. Back in the day, my friend and I would both claim a character from each anime we would watch, and say "Oh that's me" or "She's like me!"

I don't... know.. how many people used to do that in their crazed anime-obsessed phase days. But yeah, I did. And that's all you'll ever know about that! MOVING ON.

Even though this was a quick costume, I hope people still enjoy it. I sure enjoyed wearing it! It was very comfortable, and it was fun running into fellow Yu Yu Hakusho fans, who adored Juri and Koto.

Okay, now those 2 are spot on!!
Easily the best Juri and Koto cosplay's I've seen on the site!!

Awh so cool. I want to cosplay Juri too, but I will not be so awesome without a Koto.
Maybe by then I will come back here and ask for some advice ;-)
